great food and service. great place for lunch or happy hour
excellent eating in a large room. they still use a self-service model, where they use their own food via toast each order requires several click passages, which means it takes much longer than usual to order a simple meal. server are not allowed to take an order, it must be done all about the app. I will not return for a business lunch with a big group, but in any case again for a casual or social lunch that was excellent eating!
Amazing food and all fees included. What you see is what you pay as is Price fix including taxes, fees, and gratuity . A great concept with a great tasting menu meant to share. My only complaint is that we ordered too much. But I guess thatâs on með

Ordering online in restaurant was new experience, but staff was helpful. One downside, we never had same wait staff who took order and served food. I think that was the problem as I waited a least 15 minutes to get my meal while my table mates were already served and eating. A big plus: I checked in, but the rest of my party got lost and were late by 25 minutes. Bluestem honored my reservation and a had a table for us despite the crowds.
The online ordering system is slightly clunky but manageable. Friendâs order wasnât in stock and server offered alternatives, but this caused confusion if we had to place order online or not. Settled on a Baonini and that took an hour to get to table. Only reason to return is ambience and tasty food. Probability to return is low at this point.
The food at Bluestem was great. Ordering is a bit different in that you can do it all online or through the waitperson. All the food comes out when it is ready, there is no sense of trying to time things, for a traditional dining experience. But, this works well for a casual dining experience with friends. And if you understand that experience going in, it is really fine. Given that the restaurant does not expect or want tipping, I am good with this serving/dining philosophy, especially since the food and drinks were delicious, and when personal service was needed, it was prompt and friendly.
The ordering is a bit funky because the restaurant is trying something different. Everything is done electronically. That said, the food was outstanding. We had two different baos as appetizers. They were delightful and the avocado sauce was a perfect accompaniment for the bacon,egg,and cheese version. My wife had the duck pesto pasta and declared it her favorite meal on our entire visit to SF! We would highly recommend this place.
