I didn't want to write a review, but I have quite a lot to say about Oak Mill Bakery. To begin, I came about a month ago in search of a two animal cake (8in below, 6in above). It was for a company party. I talked to Bill this day about color, decor, filling etc. He always cut me off to let me know what I wanted was a charge. For example, I wanted two different flavor cakes in the layers (I wanted vanilla in the top layer and chocolate on the bottom) and before I could finish, he immediately told me it would be a $50 charge for that. I understand he's forward, but for me it seemed like they only added a fee for everything and at one point it had to be so annoying that I left. When I finished with all my wishes, the cake was over $500. I left this day and went the road to Central Continental Bakery, which is amazing, and they were able to take me without being rude and did everything I asked under $200. (You did not invite me for two flavors of cake) It'll be fine here. About two months ago, I ordered a good anniversary cake from Oak Mill. (Before the business cake chaos) Remember that this was a 6in round cake with simple writing on the top. I paid $80 for it, and it couldn't feed 4 people. I ordered it for pickup in June, but was very busy with work and could not pick up for about 4 days. Ironically enough, his sisters today's birthday and I thought it would be a simple idea to use the jubilee cake and ask her to simply “Happy Birthday” for when I pick up. Right on the phone with Bill, he says his 2 dollar 7 cent charge. I mean seriously... either as I agreed and went to get the cake. When I was there, he was nowhere to find. Another lady (very rude attitude) has reviewed me and not mentioned the two dollars. 20 minutes after I left, I get a stunning voicemail from him and said I have to come back and pay for the $2. Seriously? I will never order a cake from here again, and I will make sure my friends and family to avoid this place. If you have a good cake with people who are easy to work and have average prices please go Central Continental Bakery in downtown Mount Prospect and AVOID OAK MILL AT ALL COSTs!
